Week 2 Division Players of Week

 Week 2 9/18 to 9/25

A North

Forward - Gabby Parker Sophomore Freehold Twp - Gabby, who was a big part of Freehold Twp. scoring last year, has started the season off slow but that all changed last week. She finished with 5 goals and 2 assists. Two of the goals came in a hard fought 3-2 victory against Midd North and she had a goal and an assist against division rival Manalapan. 

Defender - Kasey Resker Junior Manalapan - Manalapan had a couple top defenders this week that helped them beat Jackson Memorial and Midd South. Kasey came up big against Jackson Memorial, heading the ball out on a corner that would have been an easy goal. 

Goalie - Anna Haeusser Sophomore Marlboro - Anna had a big week against some of the top teams in the Shore Conference. First she had 11 saves in an upset win vs then #3 Midd South.  She followed that with 7 saves with now #3 ranked Howell to keep her team close in a 2-1 defeat. 

A Central

Forward - Mya King Junior RBC - Mya seems to be getting into the groove after recovering from ACL surgery last year. She scored 3 goals this week including the game winner against Trinity Hall.

Defender - Aileen Carr Junior Wall - Help anchored the Wall defense that posted 2 shutouts last week and only gave up one goal in 3 games. She also had two goals this week to including one in a 2-1 victory against Shore Regional.

Goalie - Saige Santa Cruz Junior Wall - Saige had a busy week playing three games and picking up three wins. She had two shutouts on the week giving her three on the season. She had a season high in saves vs Shore Regional with 9 and a total of 14 for the week. 

A South

Forward - Samantha Versnel Junior Central Regional - This is the second week in a row that Central Regional had a couple of options for this award. Samantha scored the game winner against a tough Toms River East defense and added an assist against Barnegat. 

Defender - Taylor Horvath Senior Brick Twp -  Taylor had a stellar game that went into double overtime vs crosstown rival and #4 ranked Brick Memorial last week. Her defense was a big reason Brick Memorial was kept off the board until the final minutes of the second overtime. She then scored the game tying goal later in the week against ranked Howell.

Goalie - Addison Husenica Junior Toms River East -  TRE faced three tough opponents this week, they went 0-2-1 but they were in every game because of Addison. They tied Lacey 1-1 where she had 5 saves, then lost to Central Regional 1-0 where she had 9 saves and then ended the week with 11 saves against Wall in a 1-0 loss. 

B North

Forward - Abigail Desmarais Senior Ocean Twp- Abigail might of have only had two goals this week, but they were two of the biggest in B North. First she had the golden goal against RBR in double overtime to win the Mya Cup. Later in the week and late in the game against Manasquan she was able to score the equalizer even though Manasquan was able to get the win. 

Defender - Milani Thompson Sophomore SJV - Milani had a big week, first scoring the tying goal late in the game against Matawan. She also had a big game defensively against #10 TRN to help SJV continue to move up the rankings. 

Goalie - Alexa Scarpinato Sophomore Matawan - Alexa came up big against #7 SJV with 12 saves to help her team tie 1-1. She then added 3 saves in a shutout against Long Branch. 

B Central

Forward - Baileigh Johnson Freshman Point Beach - Baileigh had 3 goals and 2 assists this week for Point Beach. She is proving to be a force up top for the Gulls and too much for defenders to handle. 

Defender - Skylar Breen Freshman Keyport - Skylar helped Keyport go 2-0 this week and help lead the defense to give them their first shutout of the season. She also had a goal early in the week against Lakewood. 

Goalie - Morgan Highland Senior Point Beach - Morgan had two shutouts this week, giving her 4 for the season.  She had 23 saves this week including 10 against Manasquan.

B South 

Forward - Chelsea Lavezzo Junior Jackson Liberty - Chelsea was able to get the hat trick against Rumson this week to bring her goal total to 6 and added an assist against TRS.  Chelsea is one of the fastest and most dangerous forwards in the Shore. 

Defender - Marley Besser Lacey Junior - Marley one of the leaders and the center back of the Lacey defense  helped get Lacey back on track helping them post two shutouts this week.

Goalie - Ava Bjorndahl Sophomore Point Boro - Ava was able to add two more shutouts this week bringing her total up to 5 on the season. She came up with 8 saves against division rival Jackson Liberty to help the Panthers secure top spot in B South.
